Job summary
St Peters Hospital are looking to recruit a Band 5 SpeechAnd Language Therapist who is interested in joining a small team. The roleincludes providing appropriate sessions to older adults who may havecomplex dementias or other presenting neurological conditions.
We have an active hub that offers daily sessions, crosswordgroups and access to music and happiness programme.
The service supports both internal and external training aswell as regular supervision and HCPC fees paid.
Main duties of the job
To work within the context of all ICG policies and procedures. It is the duty of every employee to take reasonable care of the health and safety of him/ her and of other persons who may be affected by his/ her acts or omissions. To report to the Health and Safety Manager either serious risks or your concerns over safety issues. To maintain standard of dress that is appropriate for the role and in accordance with ICG policies. To work in way consistent with the principles of equal opportunities, and anti-discriminatory practice. To be aware of and sensitive to the impact of class, gender, race and prejudice on attitudes, professional relationships and professional judgement and be willing to intervene. To maintain confidentiality at all times and to ensure respect for, proper observance of an adherence to ICG confidentiality policy for all staff. To attend regular staff appraisal and development meetings with line manager and be involved in peer review as appropriate. This job description is subject to periodic review and it is expected the post holder will contribute to the active development of the role as the needs of ICG.

Overall Objective: To engage in developing an effective Speech and Language therapy service at St Peters Hospital
To provide an effective Speech and Language pathway of interventions based on patients needs
Qualifications
& Training: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy. Recognised professional qualifications are essential.Health & Safety: All employees have a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.Employees are required to co-operate with management to enable LSH to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.
Key Responsibilities: To work with a case load that includes neuro degenerative disorders and older adult mental health Caseload may also include supportive dysphagia management and training as directed by specialist Speech and Language therapist To plan, deliver and monitor individual and group sessions as appropriate. To engage with SALT team to deliver effective communication tools. To be part of LSHG multi disciplinary team, liaising, co-ordinating and planning work with other professionals . To encourage good liaison with other external agencies promoting positive good practice. To attend MDTs, staff meetings, CPDs and in-service training as required. To provide clinical reports for initial assessment, review, CPAs and CTPS. To follow current administrative and statistical procedures as required by LSHG. To keep clinical notes as per professional guidance and standards and to present information to MDTs. To keep up to date with new techniques and research for the maintenance and promotion of good practice and to record same on the Professional Log of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. To be conversant with communicating quality guidelines and ensure agreed care standards are adhered to. To ensure statistical information and client records are updated. To participate in quality assurance and clinical audits as necessary.General:

Working with adult mental health/ neurological conditions Using IT packages. Ability to use standardised assessments

Interest in developing skills in neurological conditions including dysphagia.
Qualifications

Degree/ Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy. Registered member of The Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
