Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with a passion for patient safety? Then we have the job for you. Come and join our friendly team as the Lead Pharmacist for Medication Safety and Governance. In this role you will work cross-site supporting the Medication Safety Officer, as well as working with members of the wider medicines management team and other professionals, to monitor, and support improvements in, diverse aspects of medication safety across our organisation.
Main duties of the job
To support the Medication Safety Officer, improving medication error incident reporting and learning within the Trust and coordinating, monitoring and auditing the required actions to ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission criteria
To actively support the Medication Safety Officer to improve medication safety within the trust and to ensure good clinical governance and risk management within medicines management activities
To plan, develop, coordinate and audit the impact of medicines safety initiatives across the Trust. This will involve close working with other members of the multidisciplinary patient safety team.
Be a key member of the Pharmacy Clinical Governance Meetings, ensuring any agreed plans or areas of concern are fully integrated into the overall Quality Management System within Pharmacy
To support the running of the Trust Medicines Safety Committee (including reporting output of designated subgroups), to produce Trust wide medicines safety communication and to assist with the Trust PSIRF agenda work streams.

Qualifications
Essential
Pharmacy degree (Masters level) or equivalent GPhC Pharmacist Registration Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent (or close to completion)
Desirable
Accredited Diploma Tutor Stage I RPS Faculty Member (MIFRPS) or portfolio in preparation Member of the RPS Post graduate Masters in Pharmacy
Experience
Essential
Validated expertise in hospital pharmacy Evidence of relevant continued professional development Audit/Research/Project experience Experience of supervising and training staff Policy and service development
Desirable
Experience of process redesign / continuous improvement work Validated project management experience Experience of coaching staff
Knowledge
Essential
