Job summary

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Centre forNeuroscience as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse.

WardL17 is a 22 bedded Neurological ward caring for wide range of Neurological conditions. The ward sits in theLeeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts Centre for Neurosciences Clinical ServicesUnit (CSU) treating patients from across the Yorkshire region and complexconditions for patients from a wider area.

Weare looking for a knowledgeable, committed, and resilient nurse to help leadand maintain our high standards, embed routine and manage the day-to-day careof our patients within the unit.

TheLeeds Centre for Neurosciences has an established programme for continuallearning, training, and development opportunities to enhance and develop yourskills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Thesuccessful candidate will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-basedpractice, developing the nursing team and ensuring effective management of theward in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

Thesuccessful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and haveexcellent communication and organisational skills. They must work with TheLeeds Way and Trust values at the centre of their care, for both patients andcolleagues. They must be able to demonstrate current and on-going personaldevelopment and evidence of their contribution to change management/servicedevelopment within their current post.

Youshould be flexible, well organised, resilient and able to meet the challengesand demands of a busy and diverse clinical speciality

Job description

Job responsibilities

Thejobholder will play an essential role assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nursewith the continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management ofthe department. They will contribute tothe provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervisionfor the nursing team.

Thejobholder is responsible for helping to develop and maintain a ward ordepartments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionatesafe and quality care delivery. Byassisting with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward,the jobholder will support the cost effective use of resources.

Asan experienced nurse the jobholder will assist in co-ordinating activities onthe ward or department ensuring effective communication is maintained at alltimes, providing support to qualified and unqualified nurses within theward/dept. He/she will play a key rolein the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation andevaluation of programmes of care.

Thejobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice,developing the nursing team and ensuring effective management of the ward/departmentin the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.

Registered Nurse (RN Adult) Recognised teaching/assessing qualification

Experience

Significant post registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent Audit and standard setting Standards of professional practice
