Job summary

Following the successful expansion of our SEND 0-18 Occupational Therapy team we are excited to be able to offer a rare opportunity for a Senior Band 6 OT, to become part of our county wide service working alongside Devon County Council's 0-25 team to fulfil the Section F Occupational Therapy component within a young person's Education and Health Care Plan. Clinical experience and an interest of sensory differences are essential for this role.

Clinical supervision will be provided by an Advanced Sensory Integration Practioner. The successful applicant would be a valued part of this growing Occupational Therapy team, as well as our wider Devon Occupational Therapy Service.

You will be expected to be able to hold a complex and varied caseload, working across a variety of learning environments. This role is county wide and driving to a child's learning settings is part of the working day. Main duties of the job

Hold responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a case load within a designated geographical area, within own level of competence and capability Using a strengths-based approach; ensure clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice and Routine Outcome Measures Deliver specialist occupational therapy advice, assessment and interventions to a client group of children and young people experiencing a range of difficulties in maximising their occupational performance within different settings Interventions may include direct therapy, coaching or training, provision or recommendations for suitable adaptive equipment where this is a statutory provision and provide specialist guidance and recommendations for home or school adaptations Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Workers and/or Integrated Therapy assistants Mentor/ clinically supervise newly qualified Occupational Therapists and Band 4/5 staff as required Participate in the provision of student placements To promote and support participation of service users across the service To work across other geographical areas as required to support colleagues according to need and demand Participate in clinical audits and clinical research as appropriate For some job holders, part of the role will include assessment and intervention of specialised equipment and environmental adaptations as part of our statutory work completed

Job responsibilities

Degree in Occupational Therapy To work within trust clinical guidelines and Royal College of OT and HCPC standards. To have working knowledge of national andlocal standards and monitor own quality and safety of practice. Excellent communication and interaction skills. Well-developed negotiation and problem-solving skill. Demonstrate effective communication skills and experiences of using these with children, young people and families. Ability to carry out assessments and treatments with children who may have severe physical, cognitive, behavioural and sensory impairment and poor mobility with frequent intense physical effort on a daily basis handling of heavy body parts. Carry out clinical diagnosis on a daily basis.
