We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Children's Occupational Therapy Technician to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities- To work alongside our Occupational Therapy Team to assess, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for children.
- To follow up on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of delegated caseload and escalating changes to the registered therapist for children and young people with physical and sensory, communication and interaction, and cognition and learning needs.
- To undertake clinical interventions utilizing a variety of modes, including planning and leading group and individual therapy and issuing appropriate equipment as part of packages of prescribed care after achieving appropriate competencies.
- To support in the supervision of Trainees.
- To promote and support participation of service users across the service.
- To produce materials and make equipment as required.
- To assist in the delivery of training.
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organizations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.
Person Specification- Training to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Additional CPD courses relevant to role equivalent to Diploma level.
- Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths).
- Working knowledge of typical child development.
- Understanding of SEN/D process.
- Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE, Essence of Care.
- Knowledge of up to date clinical practice.
- Working with children with special and complex needs.
- Experience delivering therapeutic programmes.
- Experience in working as a healthcare worker.
