Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Plymouth. This full-time role offers the opportunity to support and nurture students with diverse needs, helping them achieve their full potential.
About the Role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Your role will involve providing tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in the school environment. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, in a supportive and welcoming school in Plymouth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist the class teacher in implementing personalized learning plans.
- Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Support students in managing their behavior and emotions in a positive way.
- Facilitate students’ participation in classroom activities and encourage their independence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor student progress.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A relevant qualification in education or support work is advantageous but not essential.
- A valid DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
