Coatbridge, United Kingdom NHS Lanarkshire Full time

The Role

Provide a clinically effective high quality and autonomous lead role in the delivery of Addiction Psychology Services in NHS Lanarkshire, and promoting the availability of psychosocial intervention and trauma informed care within wider addiction services.

Additional Information Specific to the Role

NHS Lanarkshire is delighted to invite enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to join the Addiction Psychology Service (APS). This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied role, involving service development, delivering training, working alongside experts through experience and supporting multi-disciplinary colleagues. The direct clinical component of the role is varied and the service prides itself on providing clinicians with opportunities to develop their skills in different modalities, in order to best meet the often complex needs of the people accessing the service.

In addition to providing therapy on a one-to-one basis, APS delivers therapeutic groups, such as Emotional Resources Groups, Compassionate Resilience Groups, and Schema therapy groups. This is a pivotal time to work in addiction services – to help health and social care partnerships implement the MAT standards, and help addiction services become more fully trauma informed. APS is also active in delivering teaching across Doctorates in Clinical and Counselling Psychology in Scotland, and contributing to the MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care.

APS is a friendly and innovative team and we have strong links with both wider Psychological Services and the addiction services within Lanarkshire – statutory, third sector and flourishing recovery communities. Psychological Services within Lanarkshire work closely together and take great care to support and invest in the development of staff.
