We are looking for individuals with interest in working with people who have multiple challenges in their life including mental health problems and sometimes complex functional needs.
We want people who adapt to changing environments and who can be an active member of the MDT promoting occupational therapy.
The post would be suitable for a confident and enthusiastic person to join our team.
The team is based at Maister Court and is multidisciplinary focused including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Health Care Assistants, Psychiatry, Medics and Administration.
The Occupational therapy team focuses on assessment of needs and identifying patient pathways.
The OT service is guided by MOHO model of practice with opportunity to be involved in developing intervention plans alongside the MDT. Training will be provided around the models of practice, standardised and non-standardised assessments, and intervention plans.
There is also the opportunity to work alongside APOT's within other mental health services.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support the occupational therapy team and wider team in carrying out assessments and effective interventions for a complex client group with a variety of mental health, sensory, physical, social and environmental needs.
You will be expected to work under minimal supervision and carry out assessments and treatment plans agreed with the lead occupational therapist.
This may include delivering a range of individual activities to meet their identified aims.
The post holder will plan and provide interventions tailored to the client group within the framework laid down by the OT and feed back to the OT and MDT accordingly. Interventions may include: daily living skills sessions, engagement in meaningful activity, routine based skills, community skills including graded exposure, regulation techniques and social activities.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable with people in distress and can utilise effective communication and interpersonal skills.
The post holder will need to prioritise their own workload and use their initiative when working within a busy inpatient team.
There will be an opportunity to identify an area of interest and be a part of developing the services within the team around occupational therapy interventions and practices.
