The ED PD team shares this philosophy as we aim to help staff in becoming fulfilled and skilled professionals, thus delivering the best care to patients and their families as well as promoting staffs job satisfaction and fulfilment.

As a Major Trauma Centre, we offer a diverse set of trainings that are delivered/facilitated by the PD team, to not only fulfil their role, but also to allow them to pursue their career objectives.

As a PD nurse you will be required to deliver formal training sessions as well as informal training while working alongside your colleagues.

As a PD nurse you will be required to regular weekly clinical shifts

We are also required to support students from different backgrounds, such as nurses, paramedics and midwifes, in achieving the knowledge and skills necessary to complete their training and work as professionals

Main duties

Responsible for leading the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidence based nursing care to a group of patients

To focus on the education needs of nursing staff under the direction of the Senior Practice Development Nurse.

To assist in meeting Trust requirements with regard to the delivery of training of staff.

Support the Senior Practice Development Nurse to deliver the department / Trust key learning / skills / education objectives.

Lead and maintain a high standard of quality nursing care

Take a lead in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and junior staff.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

A welcome subsidy of £1000 is available to all Band 5 and Band 6 Nurses, Midwives, ODPs and Radiographers taking up substantive employment with the Trust.

Essential

Current registration with NMC on part one or two of the register Level 1 trauma qualification Mentorship/SSSA supervisor qualification Evidence of continuing professional development and its application ( ILS, PILS, ALS, APLS, EPLS, TNCC)

Desirable

Degree level qualification Accredited course in a relevant acute specialty SSSA practice assessor qualification Appraisal training Recruitment training

Experience

Essential

Significant experience in Emergency/Acute setting Experience mentorship Experience in teaching Post registration experience in a relevant acute speciality. Experience of using reflective practice
