We are seeking a Global Franchise Head, Oncology Bispecifics to shape the development of one of AstraZeneca’s pivotal franchises in cancer care and lead the global launches with potential to help hundreds of thousands of patients. Reporting into the SVP, Global Head, Oncology Franchise and sitting on the Franchise & Strategy Leadership Team; this Global Franchise Head is responsible for providing the leadership to develop and implement the Franchise business plan and strategy globally, across all indications, to achieve revenue and earning objectives, to achieve the overall Oncology commercial ambition and ultimately deliver life changing care to patients. The position has full P&L responsibility for the relevant Franchise globally.

In this role, you will use critical thinking to assess a range of variables including market trends, competition, and research opportunities to craft strong near- and long-term strategies for our bispecifics program. This requires strong analytical skills combined with a strong market orientation to identify breakthrough opportunities. The role will also co-lead the Immuno-Oncology Taskforce with the Oncology R&D counterpart to help to inform our overall Oncology ambition across this therapeutic area. They will work closely with our business development team and our early R&D to support commercial opportunities and identify key business and clinical opportunities to expand our leadership in this space. Working with cross-functional teams, you will drive a clear scientific narrative and help deliver and implement Phase3 / pre-launch market shaping and exaction plans.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

Successful commercial experience including leading P&L for large commercial units and delivering launch/post-launch of oncology products

Leadership attributes to set direction, generate commitment, balance short- and long-term needs, constructively resolve issues. Ability to establish clear a Cancer Franchise vision and purpose and communicate it with passion and authenticity to the organization to shape culture.

Experience in defining organizational size, structure and capabilities based on long term business objectives for Sales and Marketing.

Ability to attract and develop diverse teams and optimize team performance in direct and matrixed leadership roles. 

Strategic thinking, judgement and influencing skills, to influence R&D and lead across local markets to ensure strong commercial focus.

Track record of strong cross-functional collaboration and experience gaining stakeholder alignment to move key initiatives forward.

Experience leading development of oncology brands and/or strategies which are founded on clear customer and market insights.

Experience and knowledge of a broad base of external customers including patients, prescribers, payors, providers, and in/out license partners.

Global and/or country brand marketing experience, with capability of developing compelling business cases and delivering high-impact above-market and in-market customer facing/shaping initiatives.

Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively develop powerful marketing materials for our customers, as well as develop and deliver effective presentations for senior internal stakeholders.

Knowledge

Strong oncology scientific competence to shape life-cycle planning and management and interact meaningfully with scientific community and patient advocacy groups.

Significant knowledge & experience of drug development, particularly from Phase II through commercialization and launch

Thorough comprehension of pharmaceutical marketing to specialty care healthcare professional audiences

Detailed understanding of general business and core marketing principles and application to pharmaceutical market challenges, including technical considerations of clinical development and regulatory submissions

Desirable Skills/Experience :

Advanced degree preferred (MD,PhD, MBA)

Able to actively engage, inspire and create follower ship of diverse teams. Engenders trust, empowers team, and has courageous conversations. Makes fair, impartial and informed talent decisions. Ability to assess and implement changes to franchise go-to-market model including size & structure of both sales and marketing teams.
