Cambridge, United Kingdom Workday Full time

Do you have expertise in, and passion for, development of novel oncolytic viral drug therapies; with a track record of scientific excellence? Would you like to apply your expertise to impact the Tumour Targeted Delivery Group in a company that follows the science and turns ideas into life changing medicines? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you

ABOUT ASTRAZENECA

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.

Main Responsibilities

You will join a team of dedicated in vitro and in vivo biologists in the Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) group of AstraZeneca’s Oncology Research department. You will be laboratory based and responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing in vitro experiments to assess the function of our candidate oncology drugs. Your research will also help dissect the mechanism of action of these novel therapeutics. You will regularly present your research findings in small team meetings, wider-group discussions and to cross-functional stakeholders. Additionally, you will be expected to review emerging literature and internal data to assist in identifying new targets and contribute to target validation activities. Succeeding in this role will require excellent communication skills and both independent initiative and a strong team work ethic.

Essential Requirements

· A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biology, or equivalent.

· 2+ years’ practical experience in cancer cell biology within academia or industry.

· Experience with a range of in vitro skills for the analysis of tumour cell function (e.g. cell culture, cell bioassays, ELISA, flow cytometry, high-content imaging, cytotoxicity assays and experimental procedures to assess ADC/antibody internalization/trafficking in cancer cell lines).

· Ability to work independently with supervision.

· Strong interpersonal, influencing and collaboration skills with evidence of having used these to support problem solving and goal delivery in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

· Depth of understanding and enthusiasm for cancer therapy approaches.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Requirements

· 3-5 years’ work experience in cancer biology or a related field.

· Experience working with ADC, antibodies, or small molecules.

· Knowledge of the drug discovery and development process.

· Publication of research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
