Job summary
We are seeking a Science Manufacturing or Pharmacy Technician Higher Level to join a rapidly expanding team, developing and growing the workforce in the Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit. You will be working closely with the Workforce Lead to deliver high quality training in compliance with regulatory requirements and external training providers.

We are currently based at Moor House and operate under an MHRA specials licence providing high quality pharmaceutical IV medicines to our patients.
All candidates must have either a Level 3 Science Manufacturing Qualification or an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and be registered or eligible to register with the GPhC or the Science Council. Aseptic experience is desirable but not essential.
We would be interested to hear from enthusiastic and motivated candidates who have a passion for developing and growing the workforce and have a commitment to support the NHS.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of Education & Training and will provide structure and support for learners on Level 2 and Level 3 Pharmacy qualifications. The post holder will also be responsible for the delivery of the in-house training programme and completing relevant documentation. You will assist the workforce team and liaise with external providers to ensure the optimal learning experience and outcome for learners.
You will also be involved with elements of the day to day running of a busy unit, including accuracy checking of medicines.
This is an exciting time to join this organisation as our growing service means there will be many opportunities for development and progression within our department.
The post is a full-time post of hours per week, to be worked flexibly over a 4-day working week (Monday - Friday) but the post holder must work until 7pm as part of some of the shifts. You will also be expected to participate in a Bank Holiday and Weekend rota.

The department is expanding to build a new Pharmacy Aseptic Medicines Hub in 2025 which is part of a national programme to transform aseptic services in England. WYAAT has been identified as a pathfinder site for the programme which will oversee the implementation and operation of a new aseptic facility to supply large volumes of injectable medicines to WYAAT organisations. Job description
Job responsibilities
Working under guidance of SOPs, GMP, COSHH, the post holder will:-
Be responsible for all aspects of Education & Training and will provide structure and support for learners on Level 2 and Level 3 Pharmacy qualifications. The post holder will also be responsible for the delivery of the in-house training programme and completing relevant documentation. You will assist the workforce team and liaise with external providers to ensure the optimal learning experience and outcome for learners.
Undertake accuracy checking, which includes pre in-processing and post-production checking (site dependant) within Preparative Services.
Aseptically manufacture medicines including clinical trial medication (site dependant) and complete all required documentation following the defined Standard Operating Procedures.
Manage and co-ordinate workload and staff.
Analyse situations to resolve problems.
Deputise for the Production Specialists / Pharmacy Technician Specialists in their absence and supervise the work of staff including trainees by maintaining standards of service, ensuring completion of all specified documentation and briefing staff to inform them of any changes in working practice.
Ensure that all information needed for accurate stock control and prescription issues data is recorded, using them to aseptically manufacture products.
Participate in recruitment and selection of junior technical staff.
Liaise with Procurement staff about urgently required medicines, and informing patients and other health care staff about supply problems / delays
Ensure that all information needed for accurate stock control is recorded using the appropriate paper or electronic system.
Answer queries from nurses and other healthcare professional, within limit of authority referring where required.
Promote good communications between Pharmacy and Ward staff to ensure a safe, efficient and cost-effective medicines service.
Assist in the training of all Preparative Services staff, Pre-registration Technicians, Trainee Pharmaceutical Scientists, Technicians and Pharmacy Services Assistants
Contribute to departmental forward planning.
Dispense controlled drugs and ensure that all legally required records are accurate and up to date.
Identify own development and training needs and keep up to date with all national codes of practice, standards and relevant legislation.
Adhere strictly to working procedures and departmental policies both for drug supply and security.
Comply with Trust and departmental procedures relating to Health and Safety and Clinical waste management.
Participate in the weekend, evening and Bank Holiday rota
