An esteemed and independent SEN school located in the picturesque town of Windsor is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS3/4 Outdoor Learning Instructor to join their team of permanent staff from September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a reputable institution that prioritizes the holistic development of its students through innovative and engaging outdoor learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive outdoor learning curriculum tailored to the needs of KS3 and KS4 students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Facilitate outdoor activities that promote physical fitness, environmental awareness, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and senior staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during outdoor activities, adhering to school policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate outdoor learning with the broader school curriculum.
  • Organize and oversee outdoor excursions, camps, and other experiential learning opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects and values each student’s individual abilities and contributions.

Requirements:

  • A recognized teaching qualification and relevant experience in outdoor education, particularly with KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, and other learning and behavioral difficulties.
  • Strong knowledge of outdoor education principles, environmental science, and adventure activities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • First Aid certification and experience in risk assessment and management.
  • A passion for the outdoors and a commitment to inspiring young people to appreciate and engage with the natural world.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A valid UK driving license is desirable.
