Specialist EYFS Teaching Assistant

Primary School in Preston

Inspirational Head teacher

Reception Teaching Assistant role

Competitive rates of pay

The Headteacher of a large school in Preston is keen to secure an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant to support a number of children with SEN in Reception Class. The Head teacher has a good settled team of staff, who are willing to go the extra mile in order to make a difference on a day to day basis. The school is located close to public transport links and is easily accessible and the children who attend the school arrive from various backgrounds.  This has its own pressures as the expectation for the children’s academic development is scrutinised further across school, more apparently in the Early Years department. The department has a full intake and so you will be expected to work alongside 30 children. The class teacher in the department is very experienced as are the two other support assistants. In this role you will be expected to work with small groups of children (Key Worker Groups). As part of your support, you will be expected to work alongside children with varying abilities and language skills. You will follow specific children around the provision and gain assessment detail in order track progress. On arrival, you will be given a full induction, and be made to feel welcome in your new role. Experience of working alongside children displaying challenging behaviours is essential for this particular role.

So, what are the requirements to apply for this role?

Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification and or an equivalent certificate.

Recent experience working alongside children in an Early Years or Nursery setting

A hard-working and committed attitude to raising standards in the class room.

Full time immediate availability

The role is to start from September 2024, continuing until at least July 2025 on a full time basis – there is a strong possibility this role will transition into a permanent position. The expected working hours for this role are from 0900-1515 five days per week with competitive rates of pay starting at £12.90 per hour paid on a weekly basis. The successful candidate will be expected to apply through Teaching Personnel, interview with the Head teacher and School Business Manager as well as spend some time in the class room with the children. The process for applying through Teaching Personnel is very quick and efficient. You will be assigned a specialist consultant who will guide you through the process.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
