The Head of Nursing for UEC is a great opportunity for a senior nursing leader with relevant experience to consider. Our UEC consists of an Emergency Department, Children's Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency care, an Acute assessment Unit, Frailty Unit and Minor Injuries Unit.

This is an exciting time to join the UEC team, with dedicated programmes of work in motion that will support our vision of becoming a high performing organisation that provides excellent care within the UEC setting for our patients.

The UEC Head of Nursing post sits within the UEC and Hospital Operations division, and works within an MDT model. The Head of Nursing is part UEC and Hospital Operations leadership triumphant.

The Head of Nursing is responsible for the leadership and management of nursing within UEC. They have joint responsibility for the effective delivery of quality, financial and operational performance of the service line including ownership of key clinical quality performance targets and measures for the service.

Job responsibilities

You will support the teams in the transformation agenda in redesigning models of care and patient pathways to provide the best possible care and outcome for our patients.

Provide day to day operational management of nursing clinical services, liaising effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that service planning and operational activity satisfy the requirements of governance.

On a day-to-day basis, you will have professional line management, supervision responsibilities and over sight of the wellbeing of Matrons, Clinical nurse Specialist and other healthcare professionals and their teams ensuring support, professional growth and leadership development are provided for all the staff.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential

Appropriate registration with the NMC. Masters degree or equivalent experience. Evidence of post registration qualifications Evidence of continued professional development. Knowledge and experience of implementing clinical governance strategies and risk management. IQT gold

A demonstrable track record of achievement in a senior nursing management position within the NHS. Evidence of significant service planning and presentation skills. Ability to demonstrate nursing leadership skill in a highly complex, politically sensitive and changing environment. Skills in analysing complex and highly specialised information from various sources. Skills of formal negotiations using problem solving skills and overcoming any barriers to understanding. Ability to establish partnership working with stakeholders - internal and external to the Trust. Excellent and well developed communication skills gained through experience of managing complex management issues Excellent presentational and influencing skills to engage clinicians and colleagues. Full range of IT skills. Skills and experience in leading on significant service improvement
