GSL Education’s NewcastleBranch is excited to announce an opportunity for compassionate individuals to join our client school as Residential Support Child for the September 2024 term. This position is ideal for those looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people while gaining invaluable experience in a supportive environment.

Job Summary: As a Residential Support Worker, you will be crucial in providing care, guidance, and support to children who need it most. You will work as part of a committed team to ensure that each young person feels safe, valued, and supported in their personal development. This role offers an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in young lives.

Residential Support Child Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance to children in a residential setting.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalized care plans that address each child's individual needs.
  • Support children in managing their emotions and behavior, promoting positive self-esteem and resilience.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, families, and carers to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care.
  • Maintain accurate records of the children's progress and any incidents that occur.
  • Participate in and organize activities that promote the personal, social, and educational development of the children.
  • Ensure a safe and secure living environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and responding appropriately to emergencies.

The Essential Requirements for Successful Residential Support Child:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to helping them overcome challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
  • Experience in a residential care or support role is beneficial but not essential.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare or social care is desirable.
