Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) is a research infrastructure funded by the Division of Research & Development, Welsh Government. The overarching vision of Health and Care Research Wales is to be internationally recognised for its excellent health and social care research that has a positive impact on the health, wellbeing and prosperity of the people in Wales.

The NHS Research Delivery Team is led by the R&D Director and Senior Management Team to provide support in the delivery of high-quality health research at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Part of this service includes a NHS research delivery team employed by NHS organisations to support the delivery of high-quality health and social care studies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Urology Research Team as a Trial Administrator.

Main duties of the job

The NHS Research Delivery Team is led by the R&D Director and Senior Management Team to provide support in the delivery of high-quality health research at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Part of this service includes an NHS research delivery team employed by NHS organisations to support the delivery of high-quality health and social care studies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Urology Research Team as a Trials Administrator. This is a 24 months development role to establish a rounded knowledge of clinical research environment, infrastructure and processes.

This is a secondment opportunity, however fixed-term will be considered.

Experience in research or clinical trials, and urology would be advantageous but you can expect a detailed induction with support from the research team followed by ongoing training and development opportunities from Health and Care Research Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job description

Job responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our friendly, professional research team.

Strong administrative and IT skills are essential to support the team in delivery of its portfolio of research studies.

You will support a variety of core clinical research processes, including those related to development of trial documentation, setting up and coordinating clinical studies and handling research finances. Working closely with experienced research staff, you will develop an appreciation of the regulations governing the conduct of clinical research in the UK, with a view to facilitating the expansion of the surgical research portfolio.

You will communicate regularly with our local Research and Development department and multidisciplinary team, as well as collaborating with researchers, study sponsors and clinical trials units at a national and international level.

Qualifications

Essential

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge in health care

Desirable

Graduate in health-related qualification European Computer Driving License (EDCL) Certificate in ICH Good Clinical Practice

Experience

Essential

Previous experience in research/hospital/NHS environment

Desirable

Experience working in a clinical trials unit. Experience of using Patient Information Systems
