This role will be to cover all Hospitals within Active Care Group of which there are 6 that are located across the Country and have a mix of Mental Health, Neuro rehabilitation as well as specialist CAMHS and Respiratory Hospitals.

For this role you will need to be a driver with ability to travel, the role will involve frequent visits to Stafford, Birmingham, Bristol and London. You will hold a UK professional health qualification which requires you to be HCPC or NMC Registered with sound knowledge and experience of operational service issues within complex needs with the ability to operate in a complex and changing environment. Reporting to the Managing Director and working with key partners and commissioners, as Operations Director you will lead your hospital directors to ensure that service users receive excellent care meeting their diverse needs and achieving the best possible clinical outcomes.

Our aim is to improve people’s lives by providing the best quality care tailored for each individual’s needs. Our multi-award-winning specialist care services supports people with complex conditions including Acquired Brain Injury, Acquired Spinal Injury, Respiratory and Neurological conditions, Mental Health and Eating Disorders. The Operations Director will be responsible for the leadership, planning and delivery of care in conjunction with the Hospital Directors and as a member of the senior management team, you will contribute to the shaping of the strategic direction for the services and ensure its implementation within defined timescales, commercial and financial budgets.


What you'll be working:


  • Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30.
  • This is a remote role with the expectation that you will visit services 3-4 out of 5 days

What you'll be doing:


  • Leading and supporting a team of dedicated Hospital Directors who are committed to providing the best care possible.
  • Responsibility for the management of the Hospital Directors.
  • Jointly working with the colleagues from quality, business development, finance, and HR to support the HD’s to achieve their targets.
  • Working with the HR Business Partner and quality team to embed Just Culture so that the highest standards of safety, quality, morale and retention are achieved
  • Ensuring that the hospitals convert referrals, and are engaging with referrers and commissioners as required
  • Ensure HD’s have a good understanding of their financial KPIs and their budgets, the expectations around regulatory compliance and meeting contractual and commissioner requirements
  • Ensure that complaints are dealt with in a timely fashion, ensuring that incidents are reported and investigated at the appropriate level and submitted in accordance with national expectations for NHS or Local Authority requirements and in accordance with other commissioners and regulators
  • Adherence to all Group policies and procedures and ensuring that all colleagues in the service are aware of and understand company policies

What you'll have:


  • UK professional health qualification which requires you to be HCPC or NMC Registered is essential
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Previous managerial experience within the healthcare sector, preferably in Hospitals, is essential
  • Experience of working collaboratively with regulatory bodies (i.e. CQC, CIS, HIS)
  • Passion for providing high quality care
  • Ability to model a Just Culture, providing a learning environment facilitating safer, high quality care
  • Good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Seasoned leader with operational and financial planning experience
  • Good understanding of national context and agenda as well local issues
  • Able to performance manage fairly and to be transparent with individuals about areas for improvement
