An exciting opportunity has arisen for Maternity cover for a Band 3 Emergency Department Assistant to join our friendly multidisciplinary team.

The Urgent Treatment Centre at Chase Farm is a forward thinking, dynamic, friendly environment offering a 7 day walk in service for both minor injuries and minor illnesses.

Main duties of the job

As a member of Chase Farm UTC team the Emergency Department Assistant will act under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role will involve working in conjunction with professionally qualified staff, undertaking delegated care and treatment of patients attending the department.

You will be assisting in providing emergency care to our local population at our stand-alone, state of the art and pioneering UTC.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the UTC.

The post holder is to act as a support worker within the multi-disciplinary team, under the direction of the qualified practitioners. The post holder is expected to help provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients. Undertake baseline observations blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturations, respiratory rate and blood glucose monitoring (following appropriate training). Perform urinalysis and pregnancy testing and report findings to requesting practitioner (following appropriate training). Perform recordings and report back to the requesting practitioner (following appropriate training). Provide plastering/immobilisation of uncomplicated fractures and limb injuries. Be aware of the responsibilities placed upon you under the Health & Safety at work act (1974), and to ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees, service users and visitors. The post holder will be courteous and helpful to patients and their families, staff and all visitors to the department. He/she will respond promptly to all requests from all members of staff in the emergency department. To demonstrate an understanding of and adhere to the Trusts child protection Maintain Patient confidentiality at all times.
