An exciting opportunity has arisen for a District Nurses/ District Nurse Trainee to join the Community Nursing Team on the Island of Mull.

The beautiful Islands of Mull, Iona and Ulva sit amongst the Inner Hebrides, off the West Coast of Scotland lie the Isle of Mull and Isle of Iona. Together with Mull’s idyllic offshore islands, they provide an outstanding abundance of scenery, culture and wildlife to discover. A popular holiday destination, with good access to the mainland. This post will be based within the Community Nursing Service which covers the Islands of Mull, Iona and Ulva.

Community experience is essential for this post and candidates will either hold a Specialist Practice District Nurse qualification, be undertaking, or be willing to undertake the degree course leading to qualification as a District Nurse.

Trainees will commence at band 5 until qualified and must complete within 3 years.

Skilled in Community Nursing, with a passion for holistic care the Specialist Practitioner in District Nursing will play a vital role in the provision of day to day services.

You must be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to work with different professional groups. It is desirable that the successful applicant be able to demonstrate an interest in quality improvement work and change management.

They should also have a good awareness of national policies and a willingness to take an active lead in the implementation of these policies locally. Successful candidates will work alongside GPs, OTs, and Community Hospital and Care at Home services.

This is a challenging role in which the successful candidates will manage a caseload across a large geographical area.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

This post is 37 hours per week.

Weekend working and variable shift pattern is required on a flexible rotational basis.

Interim accommodation and relocation package is available for the right candidate

A full driving licence.

All applicants to be NMC registered.

Applicants for the trainee post will be placed on Annex 21 until completion of training.

As per Annex 21 trainee salary is allocated as below;

Year 1: 70% of the pay band maximum;

Year 2: 75% of the pay band maximum

Year 3: 65% of the pay band maximum

(uplifted to Scottish Living Wage per annum
