About us

Mid and South Essex ICB is a statutory organisation responsible for the planning and delivery of local health and care services, across Mid and South Essex and is part of the wider integrated care system. Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up services and to improve the health of people who live and work in their area. The headquarters for the organisation is Phoenix Court, Basildon, but there is a hybrid model of working, which includes working across Mid and South Essex and home working.

We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. We know through experience that the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better patient outcomes. We welcome applications regardless of peoples age, disability, sex, gender, identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, religion or belief. We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process, including the consideration of reasonable adjustment for people who have a disability. We would also encourage applicants to raise any personal circumstances they would like us to be aware of so that we can consider possible adjustments.

Job description

Job responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System will comprise the Integrated Care Board (ICB), which is the statutory body for the NHS, and the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), which is a committee of the ICB, and brings together key health, care, community and voluntary sector organisations across the area.

The ICS has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our population through our four Alliances, and we are placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart of realizing this ambition.

The Health and Care Academy Engagement co-ordinator role sits within the system workforce function of the People directorate of the ICB. The people function oversees the delivery of the 10 people functions, working with the ICP, in order to implement local and national people priorities and expectations, including those set out in the People Plan, to develop and support the one workforce and make the health and care system a better place to work and live.

Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board are in the process of delivering an ambitious People Strategy alongside partners and stakeholders within the wider Integrated Care System. A core element of that strategy is both the attraction of the next generation of health and care workforce from our local population, as well as retaining the people and skills that are currently working within it.

The purpose of the Health & Care Academy is to reach the younger generation to support them with knowledge that helps them to consider and pursue careers within health & care, by expanding and enriching their exposure to the diverse range of role opportunities available across the sector. This awareness of the scope, diversity and nature of roles within the sector could also prove to increase future retention, as those who decide to embark on a career within the sector will have a more comprehensive understanding of the path that follows and future opportunities available, compared to those who enter the sector with no previous exposure.

The Academy employs a flexible and accessible system-wide health and care approach, comprising short interventions and a mix of activities centred around the health and care sector orientation, work experience and upskilling. The ambition is to offer an unrivalled opportunity for school and college age young people and local adults to gain a rich introduction to our health and care system in Mid and South Essex, and to provide them with the knowledge and skill foundations and informed opportunities for a career for life in our integrated care system (ICS).
