Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of NHSE/WTE (previously HEE) Education Fellow at University College London Hospital.

Based at the main UCLH site - the department has particular involvement in perioperative medicine, major surgery, regional anaesthesia, high-risk obstetrics, airway surgery, medical innovation, education and pain.

Essential criteria: FRCA or equivalent

This is a fixed term 12-month contract.

Start dates:

6th November 2024 or 5th February 2025

Main duties of the job

Our clinical fellows have protected research time and are invited to contribute to research and education projects. The balance of clinical work can be adjusted to suit each fellow's interests. Where Fellows are on the on-call, it is typically a 1:9 rota.

Professional Qualifications

Essential

MB BS [or equivalent] Primary FRCA

Desirable

Final FRCA or equivalent MRCP

Clinical Experience

Essential

Ability to practice anaesthesia in general specialties; experience of high risk anaesthesia

Clinical Skills

Essential

Familiarity with routine and complex airway management Familiarity with invasive monitoring Neuroaxial blockade

Clinical Knowledge

Essential

Experience of anaesthetising for a wide variety of surgery in patients with multiple co morbidities

Audit, Quality Improvement, Management & IT

Essential

Demonstrable involvement in clinical governance, audit and/or QI.

Desirable

Lead for audit and quality improvement projects with demonstrable and publishable effects Management experience rota management

Research. Teaching skill & experience

Essential

An understanding of the principles of research Active participation as a trainer in education programmes

Desirable
