Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and forward thinking individual to undertake the role of Spinal Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator working as part of the Corporate Cancer team at Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be an integral part of the Orthopaedic Spinal team, preparing all documentation for all Spinal patients being presented at an MDT. Excellent organisational skills will be required to ensure that the patients are tracked and progress monitored along their pathway using data and tracking systems.

Main duties of the job

Support & implement the delivery of robust systems for identifying, tracking & monitoring treatment times for Orthopaedic patients to ensure the Trust can comply with set targets. Work closely with relevant disciplines within the Trust/external agencies, in mapping patient journey from diagnosis to treatment, highlighting bottlenecks, opportunities for improvement & appropriate pathways of care that are relevant to Trust/Orthopaedic agendas. Provide full support for MDT meetings across Orthopaedics. This will include, but not exclusive to, producing the list of patients to be discussed, providing & analysing relevant clinical data (after discussion with Consultants & Nurse Specialists/ASPs), obtaining medical case notes, x-rays and results etc. Support the MDT in person & video conferencing facilities, reporting faults with equipment & following report fault procedures. Attend MDT meetings & take notes as required. Provide administrative support for MDT operational/policy/network meetings, including distributing agendas, taking/circulating minutes, as well as providing data/information for meetings. Follow up actions from meetings as required, making clinic appointments for patients, ensuring any investigations required are requested & referral forms sent to appropriate departments. Lead on the data collection & submission for the British Spine Registry(BRS), as well as providing general administrative support & cross cover to the department to meet the needs of the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Work as part of the wider Orthopaedic team, particularly with medical secretaries, Nurse Specialist, ASPs and radiographers. To collate and upload information of the highest quality and validity to supporting databases linked to patient pathways- this includes the national Orthopaedics databases. To develop a good working knowledge of anatomy, terminology, treatments, drugs & medication, pathology and clinical coding relating to Orthopaedic conditions. Support the quality improvement processes within Orthopaedics services by providing MDT Orthopaedics information. Provide full support to the Orthopaedics audit programme

Educated to A-level, or relevant experience. IT Qualification or related experience

Has Typing Qualification/Relevant Experince Educated to degree level in a scientific subject or relevant experience

Substantial Acute Trust NHS clerical/administrative experience. Able to demonstrate an awareness of the NHS Orthopaedic guidance plan, national agenda and local issues Able to demonstrate an awareness of the Orthopaedics pathways Familiar with medical terminology including anatomy Experience in collating analysing and interpreting clinical datasets Understanding of data management processes including implementing quality assurance processes
