Job Title: Student Records Manager

Reports to: Head of Registry Services

Salary: £37,099 to £44,263 per annum

 

Job Purpose:

To manage the delivery of a range of services through the student records system, ensuring that services meet the needs of students, academic and professional services staff, and internal and external stakeholders. The postholder will ensure the security and quality of the student data, and that the data meets the statutory reporting requirements.

The post holder will provide a high level of customer service to users of student focused IT systems, including applicants, students and staff. 

The role will require the post holder to work as part of a team to support the University’s compliance responsibilities for applicants and students. 


Main responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the Student Record System (SITS and eVision), in collaboration with other staff in the Registry, including the design and implementation of administration processes and procedures associated with delivery of services from enrolment through to graduation.
  • Lead on data quality and associated student record policy and procedures, identifying and onboarding key stakeholders and working to overcome any obstacles, to ensure that that University strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Work as part of the wider Registry Services Team on the implementation of student focused projects and system enhancements to provide more effective and efficient services to stakeholders.
  • Manage, motivate and develop staff in the registry and course administration teams, to ensure the delivery of an excellent and comprehensive service to staff and students on all aspects of administration associated with student records and courses.

 

Person specification:

Essential: 

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant area
  • Experience of leading a busy, varied and customer-focussed service in the higher education sector, with an ability manage and prioritise own workload and that of others.
  • Expert understanding of higher education student records, data quality, and knowledge of the wider higher education context.
  • Experience of line management, and of motivating a team to deliver to agreed targets.   
  • Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise own workload effectively in an environment with demanding deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of using a records system/corporate database
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver a high-quality customer service, equal opportunities and to working with students from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Ability to make independent decisions within the confines of role responsibilities, but also have the flexibility to work as part of an administration team

 

Desirable: 

  • Knowledge of experience of SITS student records systems.
  • Knowledge of the statutory reporting requirements associated with higher education.
