Job summary

Forest Health Care is looking for flexible, committed candidate(s) qualified with NVQ level 2 in dispensing or equivalent to join our dispensing team on a zero hour bank contract.

A good telephone manner, IT skills and a very high level of customer service are essential. SystmOne trained preferable.

Experience, flexibility and ability to work without supervision are required.

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis.

Main duties of the job

To carry out all general duties associated with the dispensary and the related administration, maintaining accuracy and efficiency. To sign-post patients appropriately to the most relevant health care professional for their needs. To use judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests. To receive and action patient requests for authorised repeat prescriptions in an efficient and timely manner. To complete required returns and reports in a timely manner. To maintain accurate manual and computerised records and make full use of the computer system. To observe all practice protocols, guidelines and standard operating procedures. To attend team meetings as and when requested with reasonable notice. To provide relief cover, with prior agreement, in times of sickness or absence in order to continue to provide optimum staffing levels both in the dispensary and reception areas. To assist with the day-to-day running of the branch site, including site security, opening-up and close-down procedures. To maintain cost effective supplies of those drugs that are purchased directly and centrally on behalf of the practice. To devise and explain to each dispenser/dispensary the mechanisms for ordering directly and from central supplies.

Our 3 partner practice has a patient population ofover 11000+ patients and a staff of 3 further salaried GPs, 3 ANPs and a full complementof nurses, HCAs, dispensers, receptionists and admin staff all workingalongside a growing number of additional PCN roles.

Based in the Forest of Dean, our Cinderford surgeryserves the surrounding town and rural communities. In spacious, environmentallyfriendly new premises, we occupy the first purpose-built, dementia-friendlysurgery in the UK. Job responsibilities

To carry out all general duties associated with the dispensary and the related administration, maintaining accuracy and efficiency. To assist with reception and administration duties. To provide and maintain caring, courteous, efficient, effective, friendly, professional and accurate services to patients and provide a link between patients and clinical staff. To sign-post patients appropriately to the most relevant health care professional for their needs. To use judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests. To prioritise personal work load and work without direct supervision. To receive and action patient requests for authorised repeat prescriptions in an efficient and timely manner. To complete required returns and reports in a timely manner. To maintain accurate manual and computerised records and make full use of the computer system. To be helpful and courteous at all times and work in a manner consistent with the practice and patient charters. To observe all practice protocols, guidelines and standard operating procedures. To attend team meetings as and when requested with reasonable notice. To undertake training and attend courses if and when a need is identified. To provide relief cover, with prior agreement, in times of sickness or absence in order to continue to provide optimum staffing levels both in the dispensary and reception areas. To maintain a good standard of housekeeping within areas of work. To assist with the day-to-day running of the branch site, including site security, opening-up and close-down procedures. To maintain cost effective supplies of those drugs that are purchased directly and centrally on behalf of the practice. To devise and explain to each dispenser/dispensary the mechanisms for ordering directly and from central supplies. To ensure and maintain effective distribution of dispensing supplies to each site. To focus efforts to the maximum benefit of the practice with respect to the policy decisions made from time to time by the practice. To be flexible in the approach to work and have a willingness to learn and undertake new challenges and responsibilities. To undertake all other reasonable tasks as required from time to time. Experience

Essential

Recognised dispensing qualification. Previous experience of using SystmOne clinical software. Previous dispensing experience. Understanding of the NHS, particularly in relation to prescribing / dispensing. Good interpersonal skills with patients and staff. Good numerical skills and attention to detail. Pleasant and efficient telephone manner. Used to working within a computerised environment. Has interest in working within medical industry.
