Job summary

We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our team as a specialist pharmacist in pharmacy production and adult oncology.

The role will be split 50/50 between pharmacy production and clinical pharmacy and provides and exciting opportunity to interface between these two critical areas in the delivery of SACT to adult patients. You will be joining an existing team of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and pharmacist practitioners providing direct care to oncology patients.

You will be an integral part of the Pharmacy and Oncology service, working alongside pharmacy, medical and nursing teams to review patients on anticancer therapies.

Provide specialist technical support to the Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit (Cytolab) at the City Hospital Campus

With support from the pharmacy production and quality assurance teams ensure the cytotoxic chemotherapy production unit meets all regulatory requirements for the aseptic manufacture and preparation of adult cancer chemotherapy treatments.

Assist the pharmacy production team in the operational delivery of the pharmacy production service at the city hospital campus.

Provide a specialist level patient-facing clinical service to oncology patients

Review adult oncology patients/treatments for both inpatients and outpatients.

Initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions

Improve standards of care for patients

Promote safe and evidenced-based practice

To be a Trust-wide source of information on matters relating to pharmacy production, chemotherapy and the wider speciality; including providing support to advanced practitioners and non-medical prescribers of chemotherapy

The post holder will be based at City campus of NUH and may be required to work cross site to carry out this role effectively.

To assist in the overall management and development of Pharmacy Production and Clinical Services.

To lead in the provision, management and development of safe chemotherapy production services to patients within NUH and in the wider healthcare environment.

To partake in specialised clinical pharmacy duties at NUH ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken Leadership, management and Divisional/Service support roles To line manage and support more junior pharmacists in the listed directorates To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holidays duties

The post holder will be based at the City Hospital Campus but a certain amount of cross campus working will be required to enable the effectiveness of this role as appropriate

Training and Qualifications

Essential

/Bsc (Pharmacy) / MPharm oCurrent GPhC registration oPost graduate qualification to at least diploma level oFurther training in GMP/pharmaceutical production oDemonstrates continued professional development oMember of relevant national specialist pharmacist group

Desirable

oEvidence of further education related to Pharmaceutical Technology and / or Quality Assurance oTo be qualified as a pharmacist independent prescriber or working towards oPlays an active role in a relevant national network / specialist pharmacist group oHolds a position of office in a relevant national network / specialist pharmacist group oLeadership and/or management qualifications oMembership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) oTo hold evidence of practice at advanced stage II, as part of the RPS Advanced Pharmacy framework, or to be working towards credentialing

Experience
