This position involves supervising electrical maintenance craft personnel and contractors to ensure effective maintenance and equipment reliability. The role includes regular inspections, repairs, and adjustments to ensure the plant operates smoothly. Key responsibilities include prioritizing daily tasks, monitoring work progress, assisting with resource allocation, maintaining workflow according to the MIP process, and ensuring safety in all electrical operations. Supervise all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the electrical maintenance personnel, ensuring adherence to agreed engineering standards and all company policies and procedures. Although this is a day staff position, occasional out-of-hours work, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, may be required for major plant breakdowns. Supervisor the day to day

  • Schedules, Assign and supervises the work as arranged through the Maintenance Planner to maintain equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Take part of early morning meeting and update meeting, close up meeting as per MIP process.
  • Updates daily Schedule before the assignment takes place (on scheduling board)
  • Responsible for the Assignment meeting, full day filled/task assignment to electricians…etc as per MIP process.
  • Explains to all the tasks assigned to them and all the specific conditions including H&S aspects and make sure that all tasks have been understood.
  • Responsible with team to review the performance of the previous day (The variances plan vs actual are discussed (e.g. schedule adherence, efficiency, potential problems or unwanted behaviour… etc)
  • Communicates the follow-up schedule to verify assignment completion
  • Execute daily SICs (short interval check) for inhouse and outsourced jobs with checklists and results documented.
  • Assign an inhouse electrician to direct assistance or on-site management of the contractor job.
  • Responsible for contractor quality check and acceptance report (specially projects).
  • Responsible to review and discuss any deviations from the plan/subcontractor's plan and making sure actions are taken to get back on track and mentioned on SIC form.
  • Execute strict SIC on all subcontractor's jobs during shutdown, advise findings, countermeasures on Shutdown review meeting.
  • Oversees the work performed by electrical maintenance crews and outside contractors as required for each job to ensure completion in a timely and quality manner.
  • Manages any urgent or breakdown jobs as required to keep equipment running and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of all electrical and control systems on a daily basis to contribute to the operational viability of the plant.
  • Participate in the implementation of investment projects. Provide input into the design and implementation of automation engineering projects to ensure the tasks are able to be accomplished in a quality, cost-effective, and timely manner in order to meet specific plant needs.
  • Participate and input the review shutdown (electrical) and lesson learned.
  • Directs electricians in the installation of electrical and control equipment and troubleshooting of electrical and control problems to enable continuous plant operability.
  • Execute any delegated task within field of competency.

Execution of these specific duties will be achieved through the following:

  • Schedule, assign, plan and monitor the work of electrical maintenance personnel to ensure completion of the tasks in a timely and quality manner.
  • Coordinates with the Maintenance Planner by communicating anticipated jobs and provides input when stores stocks need to be increased or altered, for upcoming jobs to maintain maintenance schedules.
  • With the Maintenance Planner develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of electrical expenditures and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance to meet overall plant goals.
  • Review plans for future installation and inspect new installation to ensure compatibility with existing electrical codes and maintenance standards.
  • Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals.
  • Maintain time, work order, material, equipment, and other electrical maintenance records and submit reports to plant management to contribute to the continual evaluation of operational efficiency and costs.
  • Train or inform Team of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies and electrical codes and standards to maximize the staff's skills and ensure compliance with Company & regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes Electrical maintenance expenditures to stay within budget and assist in preparation of capital and operations budgets.
  • Ensure the application of the plant's rules of conduct and health & safety protocols during maintenance to minimize injuries and lost time incidents
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and provide feedback on unsafe working conditions or signs of equipment breakdowns.
  • Provide ongoing electrical support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant's on call program.
  • Ensure that Electrical department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled in collaboration with store and electrical planner.
  • Participate on daily follow up of electrical critical equipment's, machinery, conditions behaviour and study the trends.
  • Aassist PM engineer, area inspector and the preventative maintenance personnel.
  • Assist root cause analysis together with reliability engineer.
  • Assist on updating on a regular basis the SAP system and asset history.
  • Supervise and ensure the progress of the planned Maintenance Routines activities.
  • Contribute on Planning and scheduling cleaning of electrical/electronic components of all plant production equipment and facilities.
  • Assist on analyse and review maintenance and production reports to highlight chronic persistent electrical/Instrumentation problem areas and direct preventive corrective action to maximize efficiency and to minimize down time.
  • Train and organize electrical team including the shifts to efficiently handle electrical breakdowns and routine maintenance in order to minimize time loss and improve efficiency.
  • Manage overtime and Holidays for the electricians and make sure they are authorised (document filled in with a reason behind).

LV/HV Installations

  • IEE 16th Edition Wiring Regulations (2001 Edition) - design, install and test
  • Knowledge of IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • Knowledge of requirements for the Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), and the Quarry Regulations(1999), specifically inspection and test regime
  • Knowledge of fault level analysis and capability to specify and set fuse sizes, feeder over current and transformer residual earth fault protection
  • Knowledge of harmonic analysis and penetration in power networks
  • Knowledge and interpretation of transformer dissolved gas analysis
  • Knowledge of HV and LV switchgear, cable and transformer system inspection and test regimes
  • Assist in the setting of Works Technical Standards
  • Knowledge of Drive Installations
  • Knowledge of design issues relating to AC/DC motor installation, including understanding of machine operational parameters, i.e. duty types
  • Knowledge of starting arrangements for slip ring and squirrel cage induction motors, i.e. liquid starters to rotor/stator, soft starter arrangements, etc; novel connection topologies, i.e. Ward Leanord
  • Knowledge of AC/DC variable speed drive technologies, i.e. inverter, Kramer drive, etc, and selection of.
  • Knowledge of the analysis of motor vibration for roller and sleeve bearing systems

Instrumentation Systems

  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration of, e.g. load cells for weigher systems, level control devices, PID controllers, etc
  • Ability to model analogue/digital PID controllers through the Lap-lace and Fourier Transform frequency domains, and the setting up of PID controls

Control and Safety Systems

  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Provision Use Works Equipment Regulations (1992)
  • Experienced in the application of HAZOP process risk modeling techniques
  • Understanding of the application and design of safety critical control systems and associated interlocks (electrical [Pilz] and mechanical [Castel/Fortress])
  • Appreciation and programming/fault rectification on PLC systems associated with works, e.g. Allen Bradley SLC/PLC5/Control Logix, Siemens S5/S7, Modicon, etc and associated top level SCADA
  • Implementation of capital projects from conception to hand over of a working system.
  • Develop detailed feasibility studies from project concepts.
  • To be able to engineer and manage electrical aspects of a project.
  • Be able to control and forecast costs and work within tight financial and time scale budgets.

Fully Conversant with Company Policy's Systems and Procedures.

  • Ensure the company IMS is adhered to in all aspects related to engineering.
  • To liaise with contractors on technical and safety issues.
  • To liaise with suppliers on technical and safety issues.
  • Develop a spare parts strategy which best suits plant operation.
  • The position involves occasional weekend and night working as necessary, particularly during planned and unplanned repairs, the position will require flexible working dependant upon this.

Education/Qualification

  • Min 10 yrs Electrical Maintenance skills. Electrical Maintenance skills. (IEE 18th Edition , HV authorised is preferred)
  • Knowledge of production plants, cement is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Preventative maintenance techniques and practices.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 Equivalent in Electrical field
  • ONC-/HNC -
  • Bachelor's degree is an advantage.
