We are looking to appoint a proactive individual to join our team as aDeputy Directorate Manager and in return will provide a comprehensive packageof mentorship and coaching to enable the successful candidate to flourish inthis role and their future career. The post will work closely with theDirectorate Manager, Clinical Director, Matron and wider senior management teamand support the day to day operational management of the team including; theDirectorates governance programme, operational priorities, transformationprojects as well as business performance.

Main duties of the job

The main dutiesof the role include supporting the Directorate Manager in the day-to-dayoperational management of the Directorate, ensuring that resources are deployedeffectively and efficiently. In addition you will support the team indelivering the Directorates objectives, goals, strategies and measures inaccordance with the parameters set within the Trust. As part of this there willbe the opportunity to become involved and lead on delivery of key projects withinthe Directorate that enhance service delivery and overall improve the qualityof patient care. This is an exciting and varied role, enabling the successfulcandidate to develop their own skills across a range of business areas as wellas providing a rare opportunity to be involved with the transition to a new eyehospital

We are a friendly and welcomingDirectorate comprising 287 staff from a diverse set of professional backgroundsworking across a range of ophthalmic subspecialties, providing a wealth ofopportunities for staff development and engagement, both within the Directorateand wider Surgical Division. The ideal candidate will be educated to degreelevel or equivalent and be able to evidence management training/experience topost graduate level. They will possess knowledge of the NHS and be an effectiveleader demonstrating personal and professional credibility.

This post isoffered on a full time, fixed term basis until 30th April 2026 or a secondment.Part time candidates are also welcome.

Tosupport the Directorate Manager in the day-to-day operational management of thedirectorate, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively and efficientlyacross the site.

Tosupport the Directorate Manager, Clinical Director and Divisional Director indeveloping and delivering Directorate objectives, goals, strategies andmeasures in accordance with the parameters set by the Trusts Executive.

To ensurethat key directorate performance targets for activity, expenditure, waitingtimes, waiting lists, complaints and other quality measures are met.

Todeputise for the Directorate Manager as appropriate.

To workin partnership with key managers/staff within and out with the Directorate toensure that quality patient services are provided.

To workwith the Directorate Manager to develop and deliver patient services thatbuilds on the excellent reputation of the Trust.

To support innovationand the development of new services that enhance the patient experience anddelivers value for the Trust.

Essential

Educated to first degree level or equivalent Evidence of other specialist management training to post graduate level/equivalent experience
