The Deputy Security Controller is responsible to the Company Head of Security for assisting with the overall security activities of the company and is primarily responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination of all Security disciplines within the organisation relating to the requirement of the Facility Security Clearances held by the company.

The role is focused on delivering security compliance and assurance with the company’s accreditation and ensuring that the company security procedures and policies are followed. The role is to audit against the accreditation and provide advice and support in order mitigate the risk to the company.

The role will be based at our Sunderland or Derby office with hybrid working and with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office (hybrid working on a Friday).

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Deputise for the Company Head of Security.
- Advising and updating on changes in policies and procedures.
- Act as line manager for our vetting officers.
- Liaising with external agencies with regards to personal Security Clearances including the verification of internal and external clearances.
- Ensuring security risks are effectively managed by conducting rigorous checks and ensuring ongoing Protective Security controls are applied throughout the organisation.
- Manage and control the company’s security governance and assurance processes.
- Conduct site security risk analysis and site security surveys.
- Manage the company security education & awareness function including information on SharePoint.
- Day to Day management of the company Responsible Security Officer Function, awareness & training.
- Conduct investigation into security incidents, provide an outcome and lessons learned.
- Act as a point of contact for all staff and contractors for both specific security questions and general security enquiries ensuring they are dealt with effectively and efficiently taking into account the relevant legislation.
- Liaise with and regularly meet with local Counter Terrorism Security Advisors
- Supporting on Security Vetting Incident & Aftercare Incident Reporting, follow-up actions and sharing learning from experience for any security near-misses and recording details of these.
- Assisting with site internal and external audits.
- Providing project specific security support for key projects.
- Providing general Security assistance to the Security Department as and when required.
- Any reasonable management task as directed by operational requirements.

MY PROFILE
- Degree level educated in a security related discipline or relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in working within a FSC organisation.
- Working and experience of defence and nuclear security regulations.
- Investigated incidents, provided outcomes and lessons learned.
- Experience of working in the defence and nuclear environment.
- Microsoft office suite of programmes, specifically an experienced user of Word and Excel
