Vacancy Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Residential Child Care Officer to join our team and contribute to the well-being and development of children in our care.

As a Residential Child Care Officer, you will work under the guidance of the Team Manager to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in residential settings. Your key responsibilities will include:

Building positive relationships with children, promoting their welfare and ensuring their safety Supporting children in their daily routines, including education, recreation, and personal development Collaborating with colleagues, families, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive environment Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the overall assessment and planning process

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

Previous experience in a similar role within a residential child care setting A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and build rapport Strong organisational and time management abilities, ensuring the effective coordination of tasks Resilience and the capacity to work effectively in challenging situations

The Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care, equivalent qualification or a commitment to complete this qualification is required for this position
