Vacancy Description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated Residential Child Care Officer to join our team and contribute to the well-being and development of children in our care.

As a Residential Child Care Officer, you will work under the guidance of the Team Manager to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in residential settings. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Building positive relationships with children, promoting their welfare and ensuring their safety
- Supporting children in their daily routines, including education, recreation, and personal development
- Collaborating with colleagues, families, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive environment
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to the overall assessment and planning process

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and attributes:

- Previous experience in a similar role within a residential child care setting
- A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and build rapport
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, ensuring the effective coordination of tasks
- Resilience and the capacity to work effectively in challenging situations

The Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care, equivalent qualification or a commitment to complete this qualification is required for this position
