You will have experience &knowledge of a broad range of Podiatric practice together with a desire tolearn & develop your skills further.
Your role will be to assesspatients Podiatric needs & provide a high standard Podiatry service basedon evidence-based practice.
You will be working within amultidisciplinary team & as an autonomous practitioner.
There are opportunities to workalongside our diabetes team lead & wound care specialist, undertaking specialist podiatry clinics including nail surgery,biomechanics / lower limb assessment clinics & wound care /diabetic clinics.
It isessential that you have ability to work flexibly as we operate in community clinics & domiciliary settings, car driver& ability to travel is essential.

Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful candidate will
Work as an autonomous practitioner & as part of the widerteam to manage a clinical caseload
Provide comprehensive care undertaking assessment &treatment of patients who often have complex &/or chronic presentations,including active wounds
Take a proactive role in order to determine diagnosis,prognosis & optimal podiatric management for new & established patients
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team & act as asource of advice to patients, carers, GPs & other health care professionals
Ensurestaff development though appraisal/supervision & keeping the service fitfor the future
Bean excellent communicator/negotiator with proven management skills
Ensureeffective utilisation of resources
Haveresilience & ability to problem solve quickly & effectively

Job responsibilities
JOBSUMMARY
Toact as lead podiatrist within a specified locality of the Trust, in theassessment, diagnosis and care-plan management of podiatric foot and lower limbpathologies, predominantly with high-risk podiatric needs, musculo-skeletalpathologies and those targeted in the national service frameworks.
Workingautonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to confidently deliversustained, quality care. Responsible for acting as a source of specialistadvice, support and education on lower limb complications, to all professions,patients and carers to promote health and social wellbeing.
Toassist the Professional Lead Podiatrist in planning, developing andimplementation podiatry care strategies in line with national and local targetsand guidelines.
Toformulate and implement policies within the Podiatry Department pertinent toclinical, non-clinical and locally based issues.
KEYRESULT AREAS:
To be responsible for the supervision of basicgrade podiatrists working within their locality
Provide Professional support to podiatryAssistants and Technical instructors
Provide professional support and supervision topodiatry students
Responsible for the management of their own andjunior staff clinical and domiciliary caseloads.
Responsible for the rotation, monitoring andordering of stock levels at the post holders designated clinic(s) and or forthe post holders and juniors staffs caseloads.
To provide a professional, quality podiatryservice, meeting the needs of the patients deemed high risk or withmusculoskeletal pathologies in the community. Working in a variety of settingsand conditions, including domiciliary visits.
To plan, organise, co-ordinate and undertakeindividual work and caseloads according to priority and demand, both clinicallyand non-clinically.
To plan and organise basic grade caseloadsaccording to priority and demand.
To assess, analyse, investigate and manageclinical conditions of the at-risk lower limb with systemic complications suchas diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and peripheral vascular disease.
To assess and carry out treatment, using localanaesthesia, on patients in need of elective nail surgery.
To autonomously interpret information gainedfrom clinical and social findings to plan, develop care plans and providepackages of care for patients, carers and other health professionals, thatincorporate risk assessment and discharge.
To work within a primary care podiatric team togive podiatric advice on diagnosis, treatment, packages of care of high riskpatients, for other health care professionals to consult and or influenceonward referral and care.
To provide an immediate duty of care topatients in need of emergency podiatry care.
To cover for staff absence, annual leave andvacancies at short notice outside normal working hours.
To refer patients with a treatment plan tofoot-care providers where appropriate and provide supervision, of those staffwhere required.
To participate in the organization of clinicaland observational placements for student podiatrists and other health careprofessionals and to mentor podiatry students and other health professionals.
To clinically assess students on placement inorder to determine their success or failure of this part of the module whichwill go towards their final examinations.
To work as a multidisciplinary team member,which would involve both primary and secondary care providers.
To provide support and leadership to peers inthe Trust in the care of high risk patients and those with musculo-skeletalpathologies.
To advise upon, participate in and audit thedevelopment and implementation of standards, guidelines, policies and protocolsfor the podiatry department.
To participate in regular surveys andoccasional clinical trials and in the development of outcomes and re-audit,including modernisation and different ways of working.
To represent the department in local meetings,within the Trust and to regularly update the Podiatry Manager / Professionallead on all aspects of care provision to their designated primary carepopulation.
When requested provide the Podiatry Manager/Professional lead with detailed information, within their specified locality,on any aspects of planning, development or modernisation of service specific tothat locality.

Maintained in the field of high risk podiatriccare, and or regarding patents highlighted in the national service frameworks.
To develop and participate in post graduatein-service training for all professional staff working in the department toHealth Care Profession Council (HCPC) requirements

Has additional developed professional knowledge bases on: Elective nail surgery, pressure relief, tissue and wound management (including sharp debridement), medical pathologies, diabetes and diabetic foot surveillance, podiatric biomechanics, orthotic and insole manufacture.
Desirable
Working towards attaining a diploma /degree / masters in other specialities such as Biomechanics wound care and Rheumatology.
Qualifications
Essential
Degree in Podiatry. Health Professions Council (HPC) Registered. Certificate in Local Anaesthesia. A Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability) for domiciliary visits. Up-to-date Continuing Professional Development in Podiatrys core subjects. Diploma or recognised post-graduate training in the podiatric care of the at risk foot. Contribute in Student facilitation.
Desirable
Member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
Special Knowledge/Skills
Essential
Has knowledge and experience with: Multi-disciplinary team relationships, professional health and social roles, within and related to the NHS setting; making appropriate referrals; patient care planning and discharge; health promotion and presentations.

At least 3 years post graduate clinical experience as a podiatrist, being able to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment to the at-risk foot.
Desirable
Experience of both working in a team and isolation.
