We are recruiting a skilled Communication Specialist for Children to work with students with autism and communication barriers in Barnsley. As a key member of our team, you will support the teacher in developing engaging lesson plans and adapting them to meet individual needs.

About the Role:
  • You will work closely with the teacher to create interactive learning experiences, using phonics and Makaton to support communication and language development.
  • You will assist the teacher in identifying additional needs and adapting daily care plans to ensure each pupil receives the necessary support.
  • You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for all students.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children or young adults with autism and communication challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of phonics, Makaton, or British Sign Language, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work flexibly and respond to changing student needs.
