Job description


This post is in the Staying Together Team based at Osmaston Allenton Children’s Centre.

Derby City Council People’s Directorate are seeking a Children's Practitioner based within the Staying Together Team, with a focus on evidence-based interventions to prevent young people entering the care system. This is a city wide team.

The post holder will work with young people aged 8 – 18 years and their families to ensure their safety and well-being and prevent young people entering into the care of the local authority.


The successful applicant for the post will be subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.

The Opportunity
In the role of Children’s Practitioner, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
They will hold a caseload and work as lead professionals in a flexible manner to improve the outcomes for young people and their families. They need to be a strong team player who is able to deal with potentially challenging and emotional situations.
The role will include carrying out detailed assessments of the needs of the whole family and their strengths and individual needs.


About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...

Two year’s experience of working with a range of vulnerable young people and their families.
You must be able to travel to different locations within the City of Derby and could be asked to work evenings and weekends on occasions.
