An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed lead clinician in the adult rehabilitation team at the UHS-West Audiology department.
This is a fixed term post, joining the existing adult rehabilitation leads, to collaboratively develop and deliver our adult rehabilitation services.
Within this role there will be the opportunity to be involved in Tinnitus and /or vestibular audiology.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a high level of clinical expertise and the interpersonal skills, compassion and sensitivity to build positive and trusting relationships with patients, families and carers, and the team.As this is a joint lead role, excellent communication skills are essential.
You will be expected to work closely with the whole team, supporting developments and assisting the Head of Audiology and other team leads in meeting the department goals.

Main duties of the job
Joint lead clinician for the adult rehabilitation (AR) service in Audiology UHS-West, providing specialist advice for the assessment and rehabilitation of patients having audiovestibular impairment.
Responsible for working with the other AR lead to give clinical direction to the service, within the boundaries set by the Head of Audiology.
To monitor the AR service budget to ensure that income and expenditure balance and that procurement lies within fiscal boundaries.
To line manage lower grade staff, carrying out regular appraisals and supporting their development and training.
To continually monitor clinical pathways to ensure lean working with efficient use of resources.
To monitor the DM01/RTT position of the AR service and ensure that the Head of Audiology is kept aware of potential threats, together with suggestions for remedial actions when needed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide, and receive, specialist, complex, information around auditory status effectively, especially when barriers to understanding are present. Information needs to be disseminated in an effective way, to patients, colleagues and other professionals alike, cascading accurate information. To provide complex analytical and judgement skills and to have specialist knowledge for supporting adults with severe-to-profound hearing losses, adults with intellectual disabilities, and understand the legal frameworks regarding adult safeguarding and the rights of adults living with dementia and/or intellectual disabilities. To provide effective clinical supervision, training and support to others within the team including line management of junior staff/students and appraisals. Possesses an excellent working knowledge of hearing aids, and other assistive listening devices offering appropriate rehabilitation. Responsible for working collaboratively with other team members, giving clinical direction to the Adult (and or tinnitus/balance) service. Being competent to assess and deliver rehabilitation to either tinnitus or balance patients. Ensures a welcoming, calm and professional environment for all those interacting with the Audiology department. Triaging of referral letters into appropriate clinics for the administration team to be able to schedule appointments correctly- monitoring activity and waiting lists of the service to enable appropriate time tabling. Implements policies and proposes changes appropriate to the service and participates in service development and auditing. Ensures effective stock control and efficient practice. Maintains own personal development and training requirements (for registration), and records this effectively. Actively contributes in research and development activities for the department- leading these changes/audits.
