Senior Clinical Fellow (IMT3/STR3+ equivalent)

This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months for 1 locally employed doctor to work as a Senior Clinical Fellow (IMT3 equivalent) in geriatrics within the Older People's Medicine department (OPM) running from August 2024 until August 2025 . This post is in Geriatric medicine working in our wards/clinics covering a broad range of subspecialties within the care of the older person including ortho-geriatrics, short stay, dementia, delirium and acute illness.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is recruiting Doctors with a passion for caring for Older People. Our Older People's Emergency Department (OPED) provides Emergency treatment to people of 80 years and over, providing fast and efficient care in a specially designed environment, supported by a wealth of experts in Older People's medicine. In addition, we provide a dynamic outpatient service to help avoid unnecessary admissions to the acute setting.

Main duties of the job

The successful appointee will be expected to:

Work across the OPM wards, OPM outliers and post take ward rounds of OPM Patients in AMU. Ensure patients are assessed and reviewed on the OPM wards, which may be part of the consultant ward round or may be an individual ward round. Communicate with patients' relatives. Supervise more junior medical colleagues. Keep accurate patient records as required these must be dated, timed and signed off appropriately and be easily identifiable. Produce timely discharge letters, with accurate and comprehensive diagnoses, and supervise their production by more junior colleagues. Participate in the management of occasional emergencies and in unforeseen circumstances at the request of an appropriate Consultant. Agree to read and follow medical guidelines and policies. Take part in Clinical Governance activity, including Clinical Audit

Attend training and education sessions, regularly in the department
