Person specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria

A minimum of 4 years ophthalmic experience GMC Registration with a license to practise

Desirable criteria

Higher degree or medical retina fellowship Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training

Experience

Essential criteria

Competent in intravitreal injections Competent in Argon PRP laser Competent in routine cataract surgery (> 100 cases) Previous participation in clinical trials Publications in peer reviewed journals

Desirable criteria

Able to independently manage complications of cataract surgery Competent with management of ocular trauma (surgical) and acute emergencies

Skills

Essential criteria

Working in multidisciplinary teams Leadership Training junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals Communication and IT Skills

Record Keeping

Essential criteria

Clear legible clinical record keeping

Desirable criteria

Experience with using paperless electronic patient records
