Are you looking for a chance to earn some extra money in your spare time working flexible hours (relief)? Or perhaps you're interested in seeing if a career as a Support Worker is right for you
How Relief hours work
It's a bit like a zero-hour contract but without the bad bits.
- You don't have to work when it's not convenient for you.
- Receive the same training towards professional qualifications as permanent staff.
- We offer these contracts not because it suits us but because it suits you.
- With over 95% of our staff are on permanent contracts you will be supported to apply for one when its right for you.
- Job security and career development
The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave, training and other staff absences. As such, hours are non-specific, but your manager will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.
You will provide invaluable support adults with learning disabilities who share their her own house in St Albans. So what would you be doing? Who better to tell you than Sarah* herself. We asked her what she wants from her new support worker. Here's what she had to say.
Things that are important to me about my Support Workers
- I'm looking for committed, cheerful and dedicated support workers.
Support me to:
- Use my wheelchair so I can get out into the town as much as possible.
- Go swimming and use the Hydrotherapy facilities. I will need you to get in the pool with me.
- Go horse riding.
Things you need to know about me:-
- I'm a fun loving and enthusiastic individual with limited communication but enjoy intensive interaction.
- I like to move about in my wheelchair, I'm interested in other people and watching what they're doing. I find this funny and it makes me smile and feel included
- I look forward to working with you so we can embark on this journey together
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to someone's life
As you get to know them as individuals you will support them to build a routine of activities that allows them to thrive in this next stage of their lives
What we can guarantee is that no two days will be the same.
"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."
