Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a bank receptionist (zero hours contract) covering holiday or sickness absence at a GP practice. Most weeks there are a number of morning or afternoon sessions that can be offered to our small pool of bank staff. The purpose of the role is to:

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessingthe appropriate appointments, service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficientand effective way

Offer general assistance to the Practice andproject a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either inperson or via the telephone

Undertake a variety of administrative duties toassist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision ofclerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.

Facilitate effective communication betweenpatients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and otherassociated healthcare agencies

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a positive and enthusiasticreceptionist to join our established and hard working team. The role requires someone who is diligent,friendly and capable, self motivated, a good communicator and alwaysstriving for the best for our patients and healthcare colleagues.

Ideally the candidate will already have experience of workingin a reception environment within a healthcare setting, but this is not essential as training will be provided. Exceptional candidates without any reception experience, but with a strong and relevant background will also be considered. The job is offered as a bank zero hoursrole initially, with chosen candidates likely to be be considered positively for permanent roles that may emerge in the future.

About us

We have a team of 9, mainly part-time receptionists plus additional bank receptionists, supporting a team of 5 doctors and 5 nurses/healthcare assistants. We are always striving to deliver the best possible healthcare services for our patients.

Our main site at Warmdene Surgery, situated justtwo minutes off the main A27, offers bright and modern facilities with freeparking and good public transport options. We use the EMIS web clinicalsystem.

JOB TITLE: Receptionist

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager

HOURS: Bank (Multiple shiftsavailable). Morning shifts run from 7:45am to 12:45pm and afternoon shifts from 1:45pm to 6:45pm.

Essential

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as the role will require you to deal with patients from all backgrounds. Ability to prioritise own workload and being able to self-manage. Ability to work without direct supervision and where appropriate make safe and suitable decisions sometimes under pressure. Able to investigate problems and implement corrective actions. Working with confidential, sensitive information

Desirable

Previous experience of working as a receptionist in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum GCSE Grade A to C (or equivalent) in English and Maths. IT Literate including Outlook & Word.
