Assertive Outreach Worker

Big Life is in the business of changing lives. We fight inequality by working with people and places to create opportunities and inspire change. Whatever service we deliver to help people to change their lives, we do things .

What you’ll be doing

As an Assertive Outreach Worker, you will work with people who are experiencing problems with substance misuse across Bury, Bolton, Salford, Trafford and in a Criminal Justice setting, and who may be hard to engage or resistant to services.

Your role will involve facilitating individuals’ participation in treatment programs, ensuring their specific requirements are met by fostering partnerships with various organisations, such as Prisons, Probation, community groups, hostels, homelessness services, pharmacies, needle exchanges, and housing providers. Through collaboration, you will assist in tailoring support to suit each person’s needs effectively.

What we need from you

  • You will provide expertise on substance misuse for the benefit when returning to the communities of Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford.
  • You will actively attempt to re-engage individuals who have dropped out or have become detached from services.
  • You will support community initiatives which promote recovery.
  • You will use a range of evidence-based tools and techniques for motivating clients.
  • You will develop effective relationships with a range of external organisations and agencies.
  • You need an enhanced level DBS check for this role.

What we will offer you in return

  •   An annual salary of £28,770 (NJC SCP 17).
  • A fixed-term, full-time contract until March 2025.
  • 25 days holiday, and 30 once you’ve been here five years.
  • A relaxed culture where you are expected to plan your own day, take breaks when you need them and enjoy your work.
  • Ongoing personal and professional development through regular supervision.
  • A supportive, flexible approach to managing staff health and wellbeing, including a wide range of perks, schemes and support.
