We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Associate Lecturers with a background in Radiography, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Dietetics to support teaching and learning on our new BSc Nutrition and Dietetics course and our existing BSc Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Radiography courses in the School of Allied Health and Community. You will join a friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians and radiographers who play key roles in the delivery and on-going development of courses across the School. Responsibilities for the post will include teaching or marking assignments on the BSc and MSc (pre-reg) Allied Health courses.

Main duties of the job

All staff across the School work as an inter-professional team, teaching collaboratively across shared and profession specific modules at all academic levels and you will be expected to share this philosophy.

The School of Allied Health and Community offers courses ranging from foundation degrees in various specialties in health and social care, to BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Paramedic Science and Social Work, and Masters level study in a number of disciplines related to Health and Social Care. Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To facilitate the educational experience of learners, through planning, delivering and evaluating teaching/learning sessions by agreement with module or course lead and as appropriate.

2. In accordance with quality assurance procedures contribute to the assessment process for students that could include the marking and moderation of student work, including dissertations, as part of a module team

3. To support the development and delivery of innovative and inspiring learning materials and assessment, including written and practical examinations.

4. To teach the sessions by lectures, practice clinics, tutorials, seminars, workshops and other appropriate forms of learning method, dependent on the course/module.

5. To contribute to the support of student learning in taught modules and practice education/clinic activities.

6. To prepare for teaching by developing an understanding of the content, learning outcomes and modes of delivery for the relevant sessions. This may include undertaking relevant scholarly activity and research to inform teaching content and pedagogical and curriculum developments.

7. To make effective and innovative use of learning technologies including the Universitys Virtual Learning Environment to support student learning.

8. To undertake other administrative duties related to teaching, including participation in course or module team meetings for the purpose of planning and quality assurance and enhancement.

9. To attend staff development events and activities (financial support available).

10. Any other appropriate duties as directed by module or course lead.

11. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.

12. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety and well-being and that of other staff and students.

13. Carry out these duties in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity and supports diversity and inclusion and takes into account the University's commitment to environmentally sustainable ways of working.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

An undergraduate degree, or equivalent professional qualification, in a relevant subject area. Effective registration and membership of an appropriate professional body, for example: RCOT, CSP, SoR, BDA.

Skills

Essential

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with a range of people including students, internal and external colleagues and the public. Evidence of effective team-working and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, influence and motivate others through collaborative working practices. The ability to use on-line communication and ICT systems in a work situation.

Experience

Essential

Knowledge, experience and expertise in an allied- health profession: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiography, Dietetics. Experience of teaching students with evidence of successful student learning outcomes and good pedagogic practice. Clear evidence of sustained continuous professional development.
