Main duties of the job

The post holder will, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, provide a full Occupational Health and Wellbeing nursing service, carrying out duties in line with agreed standard operating procedures and protocols, supporting the maintenance of Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) standards and acting in accordance with Trust values at all times. To support the head of department in delivering high standard of service user care. To undertake pre-employment health assessment for service users. To assist in carrying out effective immunisation programmes and vaccination storage within Department of Health (DOH) and OH policy guidelines. To provide a visible accessible and approachable presence within the clinical area providing and offering advice and support to all service users. To maintain confidentiality and accurately record written entries. To give appropriate advice following blood borne virus exposure incidents and ensure correct follow up action is completed. To provide listening support to service users in an emotionally distressed state Supporting the Trusts Influenza and Covid vaccination campaign

Hours: 30 hours per week

Location / Department: OccupationalHealth and Wellbeing Service, Newtown Road, Worcester

Accountable to: OccupationalHealth and Wellbeing Manager

Reports to: Occupational Health and WellbeingManager

Key Working Relationships: :Internal: All Trust managers and staff; Other NHS Occupational Health andWellbeing Services; Nursing & Medical Directorate; ICT Department; Healthand Safety Manager & Infection Control External: Other non NHSOrganisations; Clinical Commissioning Groups; Finance and InformationDepartment; Planning and contracting.

Risk Assessment:

The post involves lone working,exposure to body fluids, VDU work and some manual handling carrying ofequipment between sites and driving.

JobPurpose:

To supportand contribute to the effective provision of a high quality Occupational Healthand Wellbeing Service to the Trust and other public sector and privateorganisations.

Topromote and maintain a systematic, holistic approach to occupational health andwellbeing provision, its implementation and evaluation.

Toparticipate in identifying and maintaining a safe working environment andpreventing ill health that may be associated with work.

Thepost holder would be able to gain experience and contribute by participating inthe management of the service alongside more senior staff.

Towork with private organisations and deliver high quality Occupational Healthand Wellbeing Service within agreed service level specifications.

Tocontribute to an atmosphere conducive to learning, audit and the use ofresearch based/best practice guidelines.

KeyDuties:

To safely deliver allocated immunisationclinics at either the Working Well Centre Worcester or at the satellite clinicsat Redditch, Kidderminster, or at various private company workplaces in and outof county.

Tosupport colleagues in the co-ordination of the flu campaign.

Tosupport colleagues in the co-ordination of projects relating to health andwell-being promotion activities.

Toattend meetings as an OH representative, where appropriate.

Toundertake pre placement screening.

To be involved in work related HealthSurveillance programmes, and other general medicals required by employers. Thiswill include tests such as; BMI calculation, B/P, Urinalysis, Vision Screening,Spirometry, Audiometry, HAVS, skin assessments and advice.

Toattend training and administer vaccination programmes as per WrittenInstructions.

Toperform Venepuncture as per Trust policy and attend regular updating sessions.

To provideadvice and support to employees via telephone or face to face followingneedle-stick injury/violence/musculoskeletal injury / sickness absence.

To beinvolved in delivering health education programmes in response to the publichealth agenda.

To befully aware of the workplace and its risks to health, visit areas as and whenrequired and send appropriate reports to Managers.

To liaise with other professionaldepartments within the Trust, and be involved in Outbreak follow up withInfection Control.

To respond to general telephonequeries from staff and managers, providing advice and support follow up ofneedle-stick injury, musculoskeletal incidents, and to instigate necessaryreferrals as required to counsellor, physiotherapist. To bring to the attentionof the senior nurse should there be situations that require further support.

Maintenanceof individual health records and recall systems.

Toparticipate in clinical audit.

To be able to conduct workstationassessments when appropriate, and provide report to manager with recommendations.

Maintenance of confidentialindividual electronic health records and recall systems.

Undertake any other similar duties inline with the key purpose of the job.

Registered general nurse with at least three years post-qualified clinical experience Able to demonstrate experience of team working. Able to take responsibility and work to competing deadlines and manage conflicting demands
