Long-Term Teachers are an independent agency that are working closely with a number of fantastic special educational needs schools based in Newton Abbot and the surrounding areas. We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic learning support assistants to join the team and work on a flexible basis during term time only.


 

What the role involves:


 

  • Support the classroom teacher by assisting with displays of students’ work, planning learning activities and behaviour management
  • Provide 1:1 support for students with specific and lead small group interventions to support students who have gaps in their knowledge
  • Contribute to the monitoring and implementation of educational health care plans (EHCP’s)
  • Promoting the safeguarding, welfare and personal care of young people with additional needs
  • Be a positive role model


 

About you:


 

  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities or additional learning needs is essential
  • Confident at supporting students with their learning, across a range of subjects
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and strategies to support young people
  • Patient, resilient and empathetic
  • Able to drive and have access to your own car
  • Previous experience in coaching or working within the care sector allows for an excellent transition into this role
