Job description

Job responsibilities

To assist registered nursing staff in providing a high and consistent level of holistic care. Maintaining the dignity and equality of the patient and provision of suitable play/distraction

Reporting to a registered nurse if there is cause for concern with a patients physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing.

To undertake identified allocated tasks in relation to the care environment, and in the relation to the direct care of the patient/client group as identified by the nurse in charge.

Obtaining and testing specimens in concordance with the care plan and reporting and recording results. On completion of NVQ unit or equivalent course.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

NVQ 3 or equivalent Or be working towards level 3 to be achieved within 18months of appointment and with relevant experience in providing care

Experience

Experience required to fulfil the post. Previous experience within the outpatients or ward setting with a paediatric background.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

Ability to work under supervision Ability to communicate and receive information. Ability to listen and communicate effectively Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Basic literacy and numeracy skills to enable completion of records Ability to maintain records. Ability to build up therapeutic relationships with this service user group. The ability to successfully carry out wound management, baseline observation and growth measurements Participate in clinical supervision. Ability and fitness to undertake physical intervention training
