We need you to lead the design delivery andcommissioning of methodologically robust research evaluation andintervention design covering the prevention diagnosis screening andtreatment of cancer. This means working closely with academicsstakeholders policy makers and market research agencies to collectmixed methods data ensuring we can fulfil our evidence needs andrecruit large and diverse samples.

You will alsoprovide consultancy and training to support the delivery ofqualitative and quantitative health research and the application ofbehavioural/implementation science approaches to ultimately improvecancer outcomes.

What will I bedoing

  • Collaboratingwith internal teams to prioritise and deliver a portfolio ofresearch evaluation and intervention development/implementationwhich achieves maximum impact in relation to CRUKs strategicobjectives
  • Project managing and advising onresearch evaluation and intervention development/ implementationfrom development of the design and methods to communication orresults internally and externally
  • Developingand maintaining effective working relationships with researchevaluation behaviour change and implementation experts making themost of opportunities for collaboration to help achieve CRUKsstrategic priorities including generating academic publicationswhere possible
  • Leading the procurement processfor the commissioning of external suppliers (e.g. market researchagencies)
  • Preparing and deliveringcommunications including presentations reports peerreviewed papersand conference presentations/posters to a high standard workingwith colleagues and external researchers as appropriate
  • Maximising the impact of research evaluation interventiondevelopment and implementation on internal decision making andexternal influencing activities through strategic planning andproactively monitor impact over time
  • Usingresearch outputs and knowledge of related research to influencecolleagues at all levels to make appropriate changes to theiractivities communications strategic plans and priorities
  • Representing behavioural/implementation science andevaluation expertise in PIC and CRUKwide initiatives includingwithin PICs governance structure ensuring visibility of relevantresearch evaluation intervention development andimplementation
  • Managing a Researcher andAdministrator ensuring delivery of high quality and impactfulresearch evaluation and intervention development/implementation andsupervising/overseeing the work of placementstudents/interns
  • Developing and deliveringresources and training to improve the ability of staff across PICto conduct research evaluation and intervention design.

What skills are you lookingfor

  • Willingness towork flexibly and adaptably in response to evolving strategicpriorities and changes in the external environment
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in arelevant field e.g. psychology/ behavioural science/implementationscience/ health service research
  • Specialistknowledge and extensive experience of research and evaluationmethods and analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and how todesign behaviour change interventions
  • Abilityto lead on a defined area of work and deliver throughothers
  • Excellent project management skills;able to oversee the timely delivery of a range of largescalecomplex projects whilst managing competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team working buildingand maintaining effective relationships with internal and externalstakeholders including at a senior level
  • Developing and delivering authoritative and engagingcommunications extracting relevant information and flexingcommunication style for each audience
  • Abilityto influence and negotiate with internal stakeholders and externalsuppliers (for example market research agencies).
