Reports to: Senior Programme Manager (ICBP)

Department: Policy, Information and Communications

Location: Stratford w/ high-flex (1 - 2 days per week in the office) or home-based anywhere in the UK. Although based in Stratford, London or home-based, this is a role which involves working with international partners in Canada, New Zealand and Western Australia. As such, out-of-hours work will occasionally be required in this role. However, we do provide time off in lieu in these instances.

This role will be crucial for our work influencing policy and practice for patient benefit by driving forward international research and disseminating and translating key evidence and data. This role has a particular focus on leading elements of the research and evidence translation, and contributing to the programme management of the ICBP. The ICBP is a unique global collaboration of clinicians, researchers, data experts and policy makers aiming to understand international survival variation in cancer survival, incidence, and mortality, as well as identify factors that might be driving these differences. What will I be doing?- Developing a sound knowledge of the research evidence (peer reviewed and grey literature) and other data and insight relevant to improving cancer outcomes- Monitoring and reviewing research evidence, interpreting, and synthesising findings and writing engaging reports and other outputs to support dissemination to internal and external stakeholders- Contributing to and driving forward elements of the ICBP research portfolio- Project managing, finalising and conducting in-house research for the ICBP- Developing ICBP publications plans and work with Strategic Evidence, Policy and Press teams on communications plans for the dissemination of ICBP key publications- Contributing to the programme management of the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership, including liaising with external collaborators, programme planning, preparing papers for meetings (agendas, presentations, minutes) and supporting scoping and development of future phases.

What skills are you looking for?- Strong evidence searching, reviewing and critical appraisal skills and ability to translate complex information for a range of audiences, with a sharp eye for detail.- Confident self-starter, excellent organisational skills, able to manage own workload, involving multiple tasks, and operate to tight deadlines.- Substantial experience of building effective working relationships with colleagues, researchers, health professionals and other stakeholders with an understanding of when and how to involve them.- Ability to work with ambiguity and complexity while continuing to drive progress, with a passion for high quality performance and delivery, and a commitment to learning and improvement.- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proven experience of writing about science and/or health in a concise and engaging manner for both specialist and lay audiences.- Proven effectiveness in planning, delivery and other key aspects of project/research management.- Substantial experience demonstrating tact, diplomacy and professionalism in all aspects of work enabling you to act as a respected ambassador for the team and charity.- A strong interest in your own personal development and the ability to be proactive in seeking opportunities to improve skills.
