Wakefield, United Kingdom Wakefield Council Full time

We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our all-age Substance Use Treatment Service, providing support to people living in Wakefield. This role will work closely with our Principal Practitioner Psychologist to provide bespoke support, care packages to individuals who have Dual Diagnosis needs. This role will link closely with Mental Health Services within the District to ensure disadvantaged Service Users are accessing necessary support for their well-being.

Inspiring Recovery, Inspiring Futures and Inspiring Families consists of nurses, project workers and support workers. Together we provide the resources that enable people to build upon their recovery and achieve their goals. We work collaboratively with community mental and physical health services to ensure people have the best chance of success.

At Inspiring Recovery, we offer support and promote wellbeing and recovery from drug and alcohol related issues through our service hubs located in the Wakefield District. We work with over 2, service users, delivering a wide range of treatment methods including brief interventions and structured treatment, access to substitute prescribing and detoxification.

Inspiring Futures is the drug and alcohol service for young persons and young adults under 25. Inspiring Families is for any family member or carer that may be supporting someone who is experiencing drug and/or alcohol issues.

We aspire to work in true partnership with our service users and encourage everyone to reach their full potential, whilst working to maintain their optimum level of independence in the community. Ultimately our aim is to maintain daily living skills alongside psycho-social interventions necessary to equip people to live more independently in the community with confidence.

As well as developing our Dual Diagnosis offer for service users, you will also develop and have line management responsibility for a number of key roles linked to Safeguarding including the named Safeguarding Leads.

As part of this role, you will be asked to support recovery workers with assessments and formulations, as well with completing referrals to the relevant mental health services and advocate for clients’ admissions to these services. This includes liaising with partner agencies to ensure the removal of barriers preventing dual diagnosis clients from accessing mental health services. You will hold a small caseload of clients to whom you will be offering low-level interventions and signposting. You will be attending monthly complex case meetings to review clients’ where you will review clients’ mental health needs with other professionals. The role also requires a good understanding and ability to assess and manage risks related to both mental health difficulties and substance consumptions.

If you are someone who understands the importance of recovery and are passionate about seeing people achieve their best, then we want to hear from you. We need you to have a Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychology or RMN or CQSW/DipSW or Occupational Therapist, with an understanding of recovery models/approaches and a good understanding of mental health issues and the way in which they are managed (including knowledge of the mental health act, mental capacity act and care program approach). You need to be able to understand and manage risks and clients’ safeguarding for both adult and young clients. You will also need experience of line managing staff.

You will be fully engaged in a range of activities such as: taking part in audits, participating in MDT reviews, and within the CPA process. Acting as a professional role model, you will also take part in clinical supervision and offer supervision to more junior members of staff. You will ideally have experience of working in the community, although this is not essential. As a part of your role, you will be expected to travel across the different areas to support our service users and staff, hence holding a driving license and having access to a car are strongly desirable.

In return for your hard work, dedication and commitment, we can offer the opportunity to grow, learn and develop as a practitioner in an environment that is focused on recovery and collaborative MDT working, as well as monthly clinical supervision.
