Job Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Substance Use Treatment Service in Wakefield. This role will work closely with our Principal Practitioner Psychologist to provide bespoke support and care packages to individuals with Dual Diagnosis needs. The successful candidate will link closely with Mental Health Services within the District to ensure disadvantaged Service Users access necessary support for their well-being.
Our team at Inspiring Recovery provides support and promotes wellbeing and recovery from drug and alcohol related issues through our service hubs located in the Wakefield District. We work with over 2,500 service users, delivering a wide range of treatment methods including brief interventions and structured treatment, access to substitute prescribing and detoxification.
Role Responsibility
We aspire to work in true partnership with our service users and encourage everyone to reach their full potential, whilst working to maintain their optimum level of independence in the community. The successful candidate will develop our Dual Diagnosis offer for service users, and have line management responsibility for a number of key roles linked to Safeguarding including the named Safeguarding Leads.
As part of this role, you will support recovery workers with assessments and formulations, as well as completing referrals to the relevant mental health services and advocate for clients' admissions to these services. This includes liaising with partner agencies to ensure the removal of barriers preventing dual diagnosis clients from accessing mental health services. You will hold a small caseload of clients to whom you will be offering low-level interventions and signposting.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of recovery and is passionate about seeing people achieve their best. The successful candidate will have a Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychology or RMN or CQSW/DipSW or Occupational Therapist, with an understanding of recovery models/approaches and a good understanding of mental health issues and the way in which they are managed.
You will be fully engaged in a range of activities such as taking part in audits, participating in MDT reviews, and within the CPA process. Acting as a professional role model, you will also take part in clinical supervision and offer supervision to more junior members of staff. You will ideally have experience of working in the community, although this is not essential.
