More detail about the role:

Our thriving team covers all front door services within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, including the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care, Medical Triage Unit, Acute Medical Unit and our fast stream rehab Frailty Acute Care of the Elderly Unit. All areas challenge our ability to complete a comprehensive therapy assessment, and treatment plan which help guide Multidisciplinary team (MDT) decisions regarding the best pathway for the patient.

We are a highly respected team within front door services, working collaboratively with the wider MDT. This MDT working is incredibly important within our relatively newly formed Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit. This unit also offers the opportunity to work with patients for up to hours to provide timely acute individually focussed rehab to allow these vulnerable patients to return to their residence as quickly as possible. The focus within all clinical areas is to optimise patients and to assist a timely discharge if possible.

Our team ethos is to allow the individuals within our team to thrive and grow as Clinicians. Beyond the clinical opportunities, there are a wide range of opportunities for development including supervision of band 5 clinicians and students. We have an established in-service training programme, with opportunities to attend and present any specialist topics based on your clinical interests. In order to broaden our knowledge and skills we also regularly invite outside speakers to in service training sessions. We encourage joint learning through our supportive reviews of case studies of complex patients, and are supportive of individual learning opportunities that are relevant to the patient groups we serve. Since, this patient group is so varied, this allows for a range of educational opportunities.

Admission Avoidance is an exciting and varied area of healthcare, and the role of opportunities for both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists is ever-expanding.

This role will be for 1 x Specialist Physiotherapist or a Specialist Occupational Therapist.

Working Pattern: hours per week. We have flexibility to consider different working patterns and would encourage anyone to contact us for more information

Interview Date: To be confirmed
