Band 5 progression role to a band 6 nurse post.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join T11 North, caring for young people aged 1- 12 years.

Are you an experienced band 5 paediatric nurse with at least two years haematology/oncology experience, looking to take the next step and become a band 6? Have you completed chemotherapy workbooks one and two? We are offering a band 6 training post that will support you on this journey. This role offers 6 months on the ward as a band 5 nurse, gaining confidence and signing off a set of competencies that need to be completed within the 6 months working alongside a mentor.

This position is salaried at band 5 until completion of the competencies within 6 months.

If the competencies are not completed within the 6 months you will go back to your original band 5 post. If you meet the set objectives within 6 months, you will be offered the band 6 post with no need to interview again.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to share and develop knowledge and skills in caring for a range of solid tumours and the associated treatments. You will care for patients undergoing a range of treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, proton beam and Molecular radiation treatment.

You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in this area and have leadership, development and organisation skills in order to coordinate safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group.

Our unit is committed to the care of young children and their families going through a difficult time in their lives. We have a group of dedicated nurses who aim to make the ward a pleasant environment. We work very closely with our MDT colleagues to provide family centred and holistic care.
